Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo singer after a brief period in small folk ensembles. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear the song's early versions and was aware that it would become a top 10 hit.
